REVIEW: Blinded by the Light

Fans of my Ronnie Lake mystery series already know how much I love Bruce Springsteen’s music. It’ll probably come as no surprise that I really enjoyed the movie Blinded by the Light, which is loaded with The Boss’s songs. In the 1980s, a Pakistani teenager in suburban London is introduced to the music of this New Jersey rocker. Based on a true story, the movie almost becomes a teen movie musical at times, but other than that, I enjoyed its feel-good tone. Springsteen’s songs about alienation and being part of the poor, working class reach across an ocean to soothe an immigrant teen’s soul. It’s a rather amazing story, based on the memoir by Sarfraz Manzoor.
