“Sending a killer to catch a killer actually made sense.”
That’s the crux of The Hit (Will Robie #2) by David Baldacci. It’s a great, non-stop action-thriller filled with twists and turns. I really enjoyed this one because of the developing friendship between government assassin Will Robie (from the first book, The Innocent) and the woman he’s assigned to kill, another highly skilled assassin who’s gone rogue and been taking out various targets on her own. There’s more to Robie’s assignment than meets the eye, though, and after one double-cross too many, he’s no longer sure of his mission. His target, Jessica Reel, is his match in a profession where nothing is ever as it seems. I enjoyed how they started out on opposite sides and then both slowly–but realistically–moved toward the middle, building trust and friendship, to work together against a common enemy that I never saw coming.
This one was a great, fast-paced, fun read that will keep you guessing.
NOTE: I read this book as an audiobook and really enjoyed the narration and pacing. I’m a huge fan of audiobooks and this one was fantastic.
