It takes the right narrator to make a great audiobook.

Dear Reader,

When it comes to starting a new book, do you prefer actually reading it or listening to it on audio? And why?

I love audio for my reading. I listen while I walk our dogs or drive around doing errands, and I get to enjoy a lot of books that way. I also check out audiobooks from our local library and happily wait my turn in line for the ones that are in super-demand. 

There is little worse than not finishing a good book. I was almost through The Rolling Stones biography, down to the last hour and enjoying every minute of it when my time ran out, and Poof, it was gone. I slouched in a huff, got over it, and renewed the biography. I’m hoping to see it turn up again soon.

Of course, when it comes to audio, so much depends upon a strong narrator, and if the narrator doesn’t cut it, then I’m happy to put on my drugstore readers and settle with a good book to read.

In the case of my Ronnie Lake Mystery series, the first one, Stunner, has just gone live on Audible, and I’ve got a superb narrator telling Ronnie’s story and how she accidentally became an investigator. If you’re interested, please click on the cover.

Now, on to my current distraction. It’s that time of year when I have to trap my feral outdoor cat Peachie, who is a super-duper mouser (he’s also one of the main animal characters in my middle grade novel Runaway Rescue).

He has spent the last several days sitting by the Have-a-Heart trap, just staring at his food inside, but he’s not setting foot inside the trap. We go through this every three years when he needs his rabies shot, and it can take several days to trap him. It started to go longer, and I broke down, finally feeding him again as usual.

Any tips from cat people out there? I will try again in maybe a week.
